If you use bash 4.x you can source the oobash. A string lib written in bash with oo-style:

String is the constructor function:

String a abcda

a.indexOf a

a.lastIndexOf a

a.indexOf da

There are many “methods” more to work with strings in your scripts:

-base64Decode -base64Encode -capitalize -center
-charAt -concat -contains -count
-endsWith -equals -equalsIgnoreCase -reverse
-hashCode -indexOf -isAlnum -isAlpha
-isAscii -isDigit -isEmpty -isHexDigit
-isLowerCase -isSpace -isPrintable -isUpperCase
-isVisible -lastIndexOf -length -matches
-replaceAll -replaceFirst -startsWith -substring
-swapCase -toLowerCase -toString -toUpperCase
-trim -zfill

I hope this makes your string mainipulations an easy task..

Would love to – but I am in the US until the 23rd of August.

Let me know if you need any material. There is tons of stuff on the DebConf10 web site and if you guys have a little presentation about what you are planning, I can put it in the Debian Project Newletter. That has a huge audience and might be a good place to highlight Gnutiken, but we’d need to have something really Debian related to put it in there. There will be other opportunities I am sure, but this might be a good one. If we did something similar to the Ubuntu release that might be cool. Plus, Squeeze is (hopefully) going to be released this year so we can have a party then too.

Vi kommer inte visa Us Now igen på ett tag, men nästa torsdag blir det visning av Patent Absurdity med ett föredrag av Jacob Hallén som hjälpte stoppa införandet av programvarupatent i Europa.
